Rumma and I have officially started the fast as on Monday!

We have decided to do a 16 hour fast so I won't eat anything from 7pm to 11am. The main reason behind the fast is that you can customize it for your needs. My sister, Hannah has also joined along with us. Her goal is to lose weight, mine and Rumma's is to maintain weight but get rid of the fat cells.

This is an awesome app created by UnderArmour to help keep to your calorie count and fitness goals. It has to many food options pre-loaded to make your meal tracking a breeze.

Even though we just started on Monday I feel like I can already see a slight change!

What do you eat?

Well the best thing we have found to do is MEAL PREP! Seriously, a lifesaver! We get so busy with work during the week that we don't have time to make lunches every night. Every Sunday Hannah and I set aside some time to meal prep. It usually takes an hour to two depending on the meal for the week. Rumma has to eat A LOT to maintain his calorie count to his food takes the longest (I know, shocker!). Take a look at our lunch creation was for this week on our meal prep blog (this includes the recipe).

Do you get hungry?

YES! It's normal to feel hungry after fasting for 16 hours!

If you don't feel hungry after that, you must be superhuman! During the fast you can (and should) drink A LOT of water! You can also drink coffee or tea without milk and sugar so we stick to green tea. It's a great teaser right before my snack at 11am.

What meals do you eat and at what time?

The nice thing about the fast is that you can eat whatever you want as long as it's in your calorie limit. So if you're feeling a donut, go right ahead. But, it does mean you will need to cut down your calorie count somewhere else. I like to stick to low calorie meals so that I can eat more throughout the day.

At 11am I eat some carrot sticks (Sometimes with ranch even though it has a higher calorie count), at 12pm I go on lunch. We are Sri Lankan so of course we love rice! Rice, meat and veggies is our lunch norm. Maybe half hour after lunch I have some fruit (usually grapes) and then have a small snack like veggie sticks toward the end of my work day. For dinner it all depends on how many calories I have left to use up. I like doing a chop salad with chicken (YUMM!). The chop chop salad that Pro Club sells is BOMB!

How long do you do this for?

We are going home to Sri Lanka for my brother-in-law's wedding and for Christmas so we'll press pause on the fast when we head out. Our Mom's cook their heart out when we visit and we're not about to say no to that! We might start back up when we get back. We will just have to see how this month and a half goes for us.

*Please seek advice from your doctor before you start any fast and do some research on what's best for you! This is a fun article I found on the fast.
